The Clackamas River is 35 minutes from downtown Portland. The river's headwaters begin in the Cascade Mountains near the south side of Mt. Hood, and has no glaciers that cloud the water. This river is larger than the Sandy River, and jet boats are very popular here as are drift boats. Winter and Summer Steelhead, Spring Chinooks, fall Coho (silver salmon) runs and some resident Cutthroat Trout offer year round fishing action.
